Bakeries

Do you have a favorite bakery???
I've lived in NWA for 15 years now and with all the birthdays and baby showers and wedding showers I am constantly throwing - it's important to have a good bakery!  I have long said that Benton county was in need of more good bakeries.  To get a cute cake or petit fours - we have to drive to Washington county.  But maybe someone knows of a secret bakery I don't know about?

Everyone knows Rick's Bakery is one of the best.  I had this cake made for my daughter's dedication at church. They also made her first birthday cake and they always make amazing cakes.

Another one of my favorites is Shelby Lynn's Cake Shoppe in Springdale.  I love to get petit fours there.  We usually serve petit fours at showers and I thought these I got for my friend Hillary's lingerie shower were SOOOO cute (and funny!)  I have had them put all kinds of things on top - from monograms to baby rattles.

The new trend is in cupcakes! I haven't been but I would love to try Bliss cupcakes in Fayetteville.  Bentonville had a cute cupcake place on the square that sadly recently closed down but I just read on my friend Amy's blog that there is a place in downtown Rogers called Kirby Cupcakes and now I am dying to try it out.

What other bakeries in NWA do you use or love???? I'd love to get your feedback!!!

  1. Chuck's Cake Shoppe in Fayetteville is my very, very, very favorite! It's definitely worth the drive from Benton County. I remember getting delicious petit fours from there when I wasn't even in elementary school...I'm almost 28 now! I live in Houston, but always make a special trip to Chuck's when I go home to visit.

  3. I just moved here a few months ago and needed a very specific design for my daughter's birthday cake... And went to Rick's because we love it. But after getting their $100 quote for my 8 year old's cake... I had to do some research. Two people told me to go to Harps. In my old town, I never would have gone to the grocery store... But I went to Harps and they EXCEEDED my expectation and cost only $35. They have a cake decorator that sold me! Plus, the cake tasted wonderful!

  7. I work for Harps bakeries and can tell you that we have some of the best cake designers in town. In fact two of them are competing on one of the Food Network Cake Challenges next month.
We also make petit fours, cakes for any special occasion and fabulous wedding cakes. Oh yes, and our cake taste really good.

  9. Shelby Lynn's is our favorite, but the one year we did Harps for a b-day cake, it was fantastic as well. And the price could not be beat!

  12. Kelly! You are an ACE KNWA blogger! Here is the skinny on Fayetteville Bakeries for what it is worth (in my opinion). Rick's by far looks the best. Chuck's Cake Shoppe by far tastes the best. Flint and I always disagree on which to get for special occasions because he wants what tastes the best and I want the cutest!!! Such a dilemma! Shelby Lynn's is good and pretty and more reasonably priced. Maybe it is a good compromise. Bliss is very very yummy if you order the right thing! The brownie cupcake is a little slice of Heaven! Okay, it is official! I eat way too much cake!

  13. Kelly, I love Harps and Rick's! Harps makes the BEST sugar cookies. Yum. Can't wait to Hillary's Sip & See. I know you have a lot going on before then though. ; )

You will love having two and will adjust just fine!

  14. I must say I did some research on bakeries since I just got married in January. I LOVE Rick's cakes. They are amazing, but for the budget it wasn't going to work. We checked in at Harps, and they were ok. BUT... We were told about a cake place in downtown Rogers called Jack's Java & Cakes... OMGOSH!!!! :D I loved it. They did above my expectations on my cakes plus they made cupcakes that were delicious! You should try them out! :D

  17. My wife Bea ran Jack's Java & Cakes in downtown Rogers, she is in the process of moving to Bentonville on the corner of 102 & J. She is a German girl who has been baking since she was 16. She always reasonably prices her products, and your satisfaction is always her top concern.Should be about 2 more weeks and she will be back in business as usual. She is still working out of a temporary location till then though and using the same phone #.

  20. A new cake bakery opened in Bentonville last year named Sweet D'z Express Bakery. Excellent all from scratch cakes with real butter-cream icing. Cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies and more that I have tried (some multiple times) are always fresh, and the best consistency I have ever seen in a bakery. The best jumbo cinnamon rolls ever! I also know they have some gluten free items but have never tried those. Thier website is http://sweetdzbakery.com and they are near the WM home office.
