Party Time

Do any of you have talented friends that you wish you could channel their creativity? Well, please take a look at the details of this party. My sweet friend Andrea (aka Martha Stewart) has the best ideas for parties and this is what she did for her babies first birthday.
How cute is this idea? Of course all the baseball favorites were available at the concession stand.

These were the party favors for the little ones...oh my goodness I could die of the cuteness! The buckets were filled with cute baseball things.

Here's the cute birthday boy with his baseball cake!

And YES, Andrea's husband made this cut out for the party. Of course, I didn't get many picture because I was chasing Stella and visiting with friends, but it was a blast.
I really do wish I was this talented or even a fraction of the creativity was part of me, but it's not.
Soooo, since Andrea doesn't live here I picked the blogger from Passys to Parties to be the feature blog this week because she is just like Andrea and has an INCREDIBLE talent when it comes to party planning/throwing. Be sure to check her out ...by clicking on the blog of the week button or by going here.
Katie, the blogger, is offering a deal to a lucky KNWA Today viewer. If you go to her blog, click on her latest post about the business she is starting up and leave a comment. Be sure to mention you heard about her blog on KNWA.
Happy Party Planning!

Tasty Tuesday: Easy Chocolate Triple Layer Pie

Ok, I haven't tried this yet because I'm cutting back my sugar intake, BUT doesn't this look incredible.
I found it on my friends blog---so I hope to try it out soon and I thought you might like it on these warm (almost) summer days. If you want the recipe it's in the recipe box.

Potty Training Help Please

This is my sweet pea organizing her big girl panties (she is still in diapers). A couple months back she showed an interest in the potty, but has not shown more recently. She not even two yet, but I thought I'd ask you for your feedback before we start the new journey.
I've read books and books and books---so now it's time to hear from you! If you don't have kids what have your friends done?
Several people have told me they think she will catch on quickly, but I don't want to get my hopes up.
Ok, it's your turn. SOUND OFF!

Food for Thought

I have one word for you...SWIMSUIT! Don't worry I'm not going to post any pics of me sporting my swimsuit anytime soon or EVER!
I did it. I finally loaded up the car and forced myself to find a suit whether I liked it or not. Lets just say I wont be winning Miss Swimsuit in my future, BUT i will have something to wear to swim lessons with my little girl.

SOOO all that to say the Today Show did a story on Diet or Exercise..which is better? I want to know what you think. Lets face it, depending on why you diet or exercise BOTH are good for different reasons. Check the story out here and let me know what you think.

Happy swimsuit season, HA!

Reality Check: Who Will it Be?

Who is it going to be? I know a lot of you are glued to American Idol on FOX so I want to know who you want out of the top 2?
Will it be Crystal Bowersox or Lee Dewyze? I've personally been a big fan of Bowersox since the beginning! I love her sound and I will buy a future CD of hers for sure. Lee, on the other hand, blew me away with Hallelujah! Holy COW! It was amazing. A friend of mine is big into Idol and does a review after each week and she loved it as well, but she said it would only be fair to truly judge the two left if Crystal sang the song too. What do you think?
I guess we'll all find out Wednesday!

Congrats

Congrats to Misty Turner, of Fayetteville. Enjoy this week's giveaway from Glo Limited.

A Little of This & A Little of That

It's almost 6:30 this morning and I want to get this written before I Skype in with KNWA Today, SO no picture. I know you're bummed.
Anyway, there is a great giveaway this week and I want you to have a couple chances to enter to win.

Like always you can go here to register. AND if you follow me on twitter @knwablogger and send me a direct message on why you want this facial, we'll add you to the registration list.

SOOOO, in the comments let me know who you would want to play you in a movie if Hollywood decided to make a motion picture about your life.

Ok, there you have it. There are several options to sign up and with the facial from Glo.

Facial Treatment? Yes Please!

I know I skipped Fashion Friday, so I'm tuning in Saturday instead. Friday was crazy busy and I was going to talk swimsuits, but just didn't want to think abut putting a suit on soon, so I just ignored it. I'll do the post next Friday, ha!

So instead lets talk beauty! Have you ever had a facial...oh girl...I LOVE them! I think my first facial was when I was 19 and I've had 4 total (maybe). Well, Friday I got a treat from Glo Limited in Fayetteville. It wasn't quite a facial, but it has the same results and was just as WONDERFUL.

I will write about about the facial treatment on Monday, but I wanted to know what you think of facials or ANY spa treatment for that matter. We all need pampering so I want to know your favorites!

PLUS Glo Limited is giving away a GREAT treat this upcoming week. Stay tuned. I'll write more about the PCA skin treatment. I promise...the girls at Glo are sweet and fun and LOVE to pamper :)

Reality Check: Did Miss USA Go Too Far?

Some of you might know what I'm talking about, others maybe not. Well, you can read this great story from the Today show here.

But basically, in the midst of photo shoots lately, 51 Miss USA hopefuls dressed RACY (in my opinion...and many others). Yes, it was part of the contest...pictures by professionals and NOT a case of girls gone wild. I chose not to post a picture here because I didn't think it was appropriate. But there are some in the link above. (the picture is of Miss Arkansas though, isn't she a cutie) Don't get me wrong...these girls have incredible figures and pull off the lingerie, but the pictures aren't necessary. Plus, I'm assuming it made some of the hopefuls uncomfortable. I'm sure many didn't mind, but out of 51 there had to be a few who were not on board. I CAN'T imagine the PRESSURE. The swimsuit competition has to be enough pressure as it is.

I've never been a pageant girl, but I DO LOVE to watch Miss USA and Miss America, so I am a bit disappointed. In my opinion, if you're going to put yourself in the lime light, you're a role model. As a mom I don't want Stella seeing pictures like this and thinking this is what you need to wear to win a crown. I don't mean to get on a soapbox, but I know this is a talker and i thought it'd be a good topic for Thursday's Reality Check.

The pageant is this weekend...I wonder if they'll talk about the pictures during the show? hmm?

Please I WANT to know what you think! Sound off. If you don't agree with me I appreciate that...let me know your thoughts!

Wacky Weather

Don't worry this is not our house, or anyone we know for that matter. But you can imagine what it was like being in that house when a tornado ripped through the neighborhood. Ok, I really can't imagine it, but what power and force!
I don't know about you, but I've been glued to severe weather coverage lately.

I don't know if its because I used to love reporting on storms (to keep people safe) or telling the stories of survival after storms ravaged parts of the area I used to report in. Back in the day I was amazed after seeing the damage that people survived, but they did! For the most part it was because they were prepared! We always talk about having a plan at our house, but we really just talk about it. So since it's storm season we're going to make a plan and I thought you might want to have a plan of action as well! Check out this site for GREAT tips!

Mother Nature has already left a major mark in the last couple weeks and storm season isn't over yet, so be careful.

I don't want to raise a big red flag, I just think the more we're prepared the better!
Also, if you live in northwest Arkansas you can sign up for KNWA Mobile. You will get direct weather alerts to your phone. This is extra helpful if you lose power or you cable/satelite goes out during the storm. Just another tool to help keep you informed. I know Tom has it on his phone and it is super helpful!

Tasty Tuesday:Barbeque Sauce

Tis the season to break out the grills and try out some yummy treats. So I thought I would share a recipe that I"ve known my WHOLE life. It's my families recipe for barbeque sauce and it's super easy to make and SOOO good. Yes, I know there are a million different types of barbeque and major contests, etc, but this sauce is an easy go to.

I hope once all this crummy weather passes you'll try it when you bust out the grill again. To be honest, my mom puts it on a lot of chicken she bakes in the oven, so it doesn't HAVE to be a grill meal. Check it out here.

I hope you enjoy!

Yard Work

These flowers aren't in my backyard, BUT my cute hubby, Tom Yazwinski, gutted our flowerbed and put in roses like these. What a GREAT surprise for Mother's Day. I'm out of town so he did this ALL on his own!
I'm so proud of him. He told me there's still work to be done, so we need your help. We don't claim to have a green thumb, but the folks in our neighborhood have such beautiful yards, so we want to follow suit.
SOO, what are your favorite bushes and perennials? We still have some work to do, but we're on the right track and would appreciate any feedback!
Thanks and happy planting!

Fashion Forward: The Summer Romper

If you've been shopping at all lately then you KNOW that ROMPERS are in this summer. They are EVERYWHERE. I'll admit, I tried one on the other day and DON'T WORRY...I wont scare you. My legs are still so white that it was comical in the dressing room. BUT I do think the are SOOO cute, but unfortunately I wont be sporting one this year.
Instead, I'll let Stella sport the romper and I'll just wish I could pull it off!
However, I'll be living in summer dresses!
What do you think of these rompers? Ugh, the more I look at them I really wish I could pull them off, but I'm not going to lie to myself and pretend they look good. My legs are TOO long for some of the short-shorts and TOOO WHITE!

Pagnozzi Charities

This weekend Tom and I had the privledge of visiting Tom Pagnozzi's home for Pagnozzi Charities. First of all, him home is beautiful! But more importantly, it's great to know you're helping raise money for an AMAZING cause.
In case you're not familiar with the charity--this is their mission is to open the door to an athletic experience to disadvantaged youth. LOVE it. Playing sports can cost a bundle, but it's so great for kids to get involved and find something they're good at and this charity helps do exactly that.

I know this post is a bit random, but I really like what Pagnozzi Charities stands for so I wanted to mention them.
Here are Tom and Dan having a good time. So I want ot know, what is your favorite charity and why? Who knows maybe they'll be a hot topic one of these days!
